Learner Spotlight: Erin at Aro Underwriting

Name: Erin Holloway
Age: 20
Course: AAT, Level 2
Employer: Aro Underwriting, Tonbridge

How did you hear about Apprenticeships?

I heard about apprenticeships through the government website and after studying at Hadlow College for 2 years I decided an apprenticeship would be the best route for me. I was offered a place at University but after consideration, decided the apprenticeship Runway were offering me was a better path to take.

How has Runway Training helped you?

Runway were able to offer me the course I was interested in which allowed me to develop new, unique, industry based skills whilst learning on the job. They found me employment in an amazing company and I intend to stay on here after completing my qualification. I was given support throughout my apprenticeship and guidance from my assessor when it was needed.

How has the Apprenticeship helped you?

The apprenticeship has helped me gain the knowledge needed to work in a business environment, whilst being able to pick up specific industry knowledge in accounting and insurance. I feel that this work-based way of learning was more suited to me rather than gaining a qualification by going to University.

Would you recommend Apprenticeships and why?

I would definitely recommend doing an apprenticeship to anyone. They are a great way to get into the industry you’re interested in and they give you the opportunity to gain the skills needed to be successful.

What are your future plans?

After the success I’ve had with my Level 2 apprenticeship I want to go on to do my Level 3 in AAT or alternatively take up a qualification in Business Management, as my main aim is to own my own business.

The end goal?

Having completed the Level 2 I feel I am better equipped with the skills I need to do my job and I hope to progress my career and maybe one day own my own business.

Thank you to Runway for all their help and support.
