How did you hear about Apprenticeships?

I heard about them initially when I was at college and when I started my job at Maths No Problem, one of our managers asked if we wanted to do an apprenticeship. They explained that it’s the best route to get the qualification in admin.

What were your roles during your Apprenticeship?

Mainly emails, answering phone calls, booking venues, dealing with events, meeting, stationery and just general admin tasks.

What skills do you feel you have gained?

I am much more competent at my job. I know the full process of the task. If I am booking an event I know how that should work from start to finish, I am better at planning ahead. I have become more organised. I have also learned the appropriate language for when speaking on emails to different types of people. I used to be terrible on the phone but now feel I am much better.

How has Runway Training helped you?

My trainer Faye was so lovely and so supportive. If I ever got stuck on something, she was always at the end of the phone or email and was so helpful. Runway Training helped me get through it and learn a lot more.

How has the Apprenticeship helped you?

It has helped me gain a wide range of skills and it also looks good on my CV so would help for future employment in an admin or personal assistant role. It could make me look more interesting than someone who has not undertaken an apprenticeship.

Would you recommend Apprenticeships and why?

Yes I would because it isn’t just learning; you get to experience a working environment so you are doing everything at once. You are taught things by your trainer.

Have you got any advice for people looking for apprenticeships or applying for them?

Make sure you know what job you want to do in the future because that will then depend on what qualification you choose.

What are your future plans?

I want to get a different role in admin and be higher up. I would also be interested in being a personal assistant and I want to do that next. I would also like to do the Level 3 course.

The end goal?

I don’t know the ideal goal but I really enjoy admin so would maybe like a managerial role doing admin and problem solving.
