Main Responsibilities & duties of the role.

Teaching

  • Undertake effective initial assessment that leads to comprehensive Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) that take into consideration individual learning styles and needs.
  • Deliver course induction that effectively introduces the programme and establishes expectations for learner behaviour, attendance and punctuality, respect and Fundamental British Values.
  • Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge that reflects industry standards and meets employer needs.
  • Assess, monitor, and provide well-timed, constructive feedback, making it clear to learners how they can improve their work.
  • Contribute to the on-going development of schemes of work and curriculum plans that meet the needs of learners, employers and the skills needs of the local and national economy in collaboration with team members.
  • Promote the safety and welfare of learners in line with organisation’s safeguarding policy and procedures.
  • Complete registers, documentation and daily, weekly, and monthly reports as set/requested by you Line Manager to report on learner and qualification progress tracking and any other related information.
  • Submit marked portfolios in a timely manner for interim and course end verification.

CIAG

  • Support learners to develop personal, social and employability skills that prepares them for their intended job/career progression and personal goals.
  • Coach, guide and motivate learners and provide information, advice and guidance throughout the programme to support their progression.
  • Match learners to live vacancies secured by the Business Development team.
  • Support with interview feedback for unsuccessful applications and onboarding for those that have secured work.
  • Track those that have secured work to monitor and record sustainability of employment

Additional

  • Work to, and achieve company set key performance indicators.
  • Attend and participate in meetings as required.
  • Demonstrate commitment to equality and diversity, British Values and actively embed this within all teaching practices.
  • Ensure adherence to Health and Safety at all times.
  • Attend training/CPD events and courses as required, maintaining own CPD.
  • Completion of all and any other duties as reasonably requested by your Line Manager.

Professional experience, skills and knowledge

Essential

  • Proven experience as a teacher in the required subject areas
  • Proven experience of building good relationships with students
  • Knowledge of strategies to maximise student attendance and achievements.
  • Experience delivering up to and including Level 2 qualifications
  • Experience working with adults in a learning environment
  • Driven and focused with an understanding of KPI’s.
  • Experience of working with a range of ages
  • The ability to understand the monitoring, evaluation and service requirements of the project
  • Well organised
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills plus use of Internet, social media, and on-line teaching platforms (Teams, Zoom etc).

Desirable

  • Willingness to attend training courses to widen scope of subjects that can be taught.
  • Experience delivering up to and including Level 3 qualifications
  • Attendance at conferences to ensure latest ideas and strategies are implemented.
  • Knowledge or work-based learning and the implementation of high quality teaching, Learning and assessment.
  • Strong teamworking skills with colleagues to enable progress, coordination and cover for illness, holiday etc when required.
  • Awareness and experience of Ofsted inspections and requirements to ensure Good/Outstanding grades.

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Minimum L3 Award in Education and Training (or equivalent)
  • CAVA qualification
  • Level 2 qualifications in English and Mathematics

Desirable

  • Level 3 TAQA
  • L5 Diploma in Education and Training (or willing to work towards)
  • At least one vocational area of experience and ability/knowledge in addition to Functional Skills/Digital Skills
  • Ability to effectively manage difficult situations between learners.

Other Role Requirements and Information

  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written) and effective interpersonal skills. Team player
  • Be able to engage and develop professional relationships with learners across a wide age range, people with potentially challenging barriers to employment and those from a diverse range of backgrounds.
  • Ability to set and work to deadlines.
  • Calm, supportive and caring.
  • Punctual both in terms of arrival in the morning and being ready to start lessons on time (expectation is that teachers are in the classroom at least 15 minutes before session is due to start, so each learner can be welcomed in as they arrive)
  • The post holder will require a full driving license (and ideally the use of a vehicle), subject to the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 and must be willing to undertake travel as required.
  • Have a clear DBS check which does not prevent the applicant working with the learners that Runway Training sign onto its programmes
