Empowering Employment Through Understanding
The Supported Employment Service (SES) team undertook the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training to strengthen their understanding of Learning Disabilities and Autism and enhance the support they provide to clients exploring employment opportunities. Through powerful lived-experience stories and expert facilitation, the training reinforced the importance of an Ask, Listen & Learn approach, helping staff deliver more informed, person-centred support.
Supporting John Sellers into Meaningful Volunteering and Employment Pathways
While awaiting the outcome of his visa renewal, John was supported to explore volunteering opportunities that aligned with his teaching background. Through a partnership with WeClick, he secured a volunteer tutor role, enabling him to gain UK-based experience, support local learners, and strengthen his pathway towards future employment in the education sector.
Kelly Ellis – Level 3 Apprenticeship Learner
Kelly Ellis consistently exceeded expectations throughout her Level 3 apprenticeship, achieving a Distinction in her EPA through hard work, professionalism, and dedication. She is now ready to progress confidently onto her Level 5 apprenticeship.

Ben Fontannaz attended the NCFE L1 Award in Preparing to Work in Schools with David Bennett in Croydon and then went onto progress to the NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Children and Young Peoples Mental Health.

Chisomnazu Nwagugbo recently attended the NCFE L1 Award in Preparing to Work in Schools course with David Bennett at the Croydon office. At enrolment it was confirmed that she would need some extra support to enable her to complete what was required to achieve. As it was a fairly small cohort it was agreed that her teacher, David Bennett, would give additional 1:1 support after the sessions ended to ensure timely completion and achievement.
From Volunteer to Confident Applicant
Through Entry Level 3 Functional Skills English, Kavitha gained the confidence and skills to apply for a paid role, improving her communication and writing and feeling fully prepared for her upcoming exam.

Oliver McGowan Tier 2 Training Success
Runway Training recently delivered Oliver McGowan Tier 2 training to New Horizons Care Company based in Thanet. The training is unique because it is always delivered face to face and is co-delivered by experts with lived experience of Autism and Learning disabilities.

Jemma joined the Digital Functional Skills course in Chichester with minimal digital experience and a great deal of anxiety about using technology. On her first day, she was visibly nervous and unsure about basic digital tasks.
