Student Administrator Apprenticeship – Lambeth

Working as an assistant to the Pastoral team you’ll provide support to students, teachers and other non-teaching staff with administration responsibilities.

This will include taking a lead role in the administration of student registration,  creating and editing documents using Microsoft Office, and filing and sending documents by email and post. You’ll need excellent communication skills as you will regularly answer the office phone and liaise with students and parents regarding school-related enquiries.

Salary

£5 per hour, £187.50 per week

Working week

08:30 - 17:00 or 10:00 - 19:00 Monday to Friday. 37.5 hour week, 1 hour lunch

Skills

  • Hold GCSE Grade C or above in English and Maths or equivalent
  • Willing and able to complete all learning and assessment requirements of the relevant framework
  • Able to establish good working relationships with staff, students, their parents and outside agencies
  • Being computer literate and able to manipulate and present data
  • Able to quickly learn new computer packages (e.g. Word processing, Information Management Systems)
  • Able to maintain accurate records
  • Excellent organisational skills, including keen attention to detail
  • Able to prioritise own workload and manage competing deadlines

You’ll also need a good attention to detail to ensure your work is accurate.

  • Have responsibility for student reception during the school day.
  • Answer the telephone professionally and politely.
  • Take messages from parents and students and ensure they are passed on to the right person.
  • Prepare and co-ordinate correspondence to parents and students as directed.
  • Monitor and report on student attendance, punctuality and behaviour by keeping accurate records.
  • Updating student registers online promptly and accurately.
  • Maintaining bursary records.
  • Assist and support with events as required.
  • Assist with supervision and co-ordination of internal and public examinations.
  • Assist staff with creating student displays.
  • Contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the school.
  • Appreciate and support the work of other professionals.
  • Attend and participate in relevant meetings.
  • Participate in training and other learning activities and performance development
  • Work with colleagues to implement safe procedures around Covid 19
  • Compliance with all necessary policies and procedures relating to child protection, equality and diversity, health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.
